Types of Facelifts We Offer

Mini lift

A minimally-invasive surgical procedure that is less aggressive than a traditional facelift. A mini lift addresses early signs of aging in the lower third of the face and neck and works best for those with minimal sagging and loose tissue.  The lift on all surgical facelifts are in the deep plane in a vertical or upward vector.

Revision facelift

A facelift procedure designed to correct or enhance a previous facelift’s results. Revision facelifts are more complex procedures than primary facelifts.

Deep plane facelift

A surgical facelift technique that targets the deep facial structures rather than simply pulling the skin to tighten and lift the face. Deeper muscles and skin are raised and manipulated, resulting in more natural-looking youthful contours.

Liquid facelift

A combination of various non-surgical techniques to provide full facial rejuvenation. A liquid facelift combines neuromodulators and facial fillers to smooth, lift, and contour the face while softening lines and wrinkles and redefining the jawline.

Your Consultation

Your initial consultation with Dr. Kulbersh is one of the most important aspects of your facelift procedure. During your meeting, he establishes an open channel of communication that allows you to express all your goals and concerns.

Dr. Kulbersh never uses a one-size-fits-all approach to any of his patients, but rather, he develops customized treatment plans based on your unique needs and goals.

Dr. Kulbersh may also recommend combining your facelift with other procedures to enhance your facial rejuvenation results.

Your Procedure

Your facelift will be performed at the fully-accredited Fairview Surgical Suites. At this all-inclusive aesthetic destination, you can safely and successfully receive your treatments with a team of experts who focus fully on safety and care before, during, and after your surgery, while you enjoy a portion of your recovery time in a luxurious, private setting.  The center is specialized in performing only facial plastic surgery procedures.

Inside the Facelift Surgery Process

A facelift takes 2.5 to 7.5 hours to complete. It can be performed under local or general anesthesia and may begin with a tiny incision made beneath the chin. Dr. Kulbersh removes excess fat from the neck and tightens neck muscles and may perform a platysmaplasty (removal of neck bands) for patients with these bands or a turkey wattle at the front of the neck.

Sometimes, the deep fat, muscles or salivary glands of the neck need to be removed in patients with heavier necks. Dr. Kulbersh uses deeper sutures which he can close with no tension, allowing the incisions to heal with the most invisible scars possible. He then applies a protective dressing to the face, which he will remove the morning after your facelift.

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Kulbersh and his staff. Everyone was highly professional, maintained frequent communication and welcomed my questions. Dr. Kulbersh is not just a master facial surgeon; he is an artist. During pre-surgery consultations for a face-lift, he asked about my expectations and desired results. Dr. Kulbersh clearly explained and demonstrated the results.”

Facelift FAQ

How Much Does a Facelift Cost in Charlotte, NC?

Facelift cost in Charlotte varies based on the surgical technique, the extent of correction needed, anesthesia, facility fees, and whether other procedures are performed at the same time. A personalized consultation allows Dr. Jonathan Kulbersh to evaluate your facial structure and recommend the appropriate surgical approach. Patients receive detailed pricing based on their individual treatment plan rather than a standard one size fits all estimate.

What Is the Difference Between a Deep Plane Facelift and a Traditional Facelift?

A deep plane facelift addresses deeper facial tissues rather than relying primarily on tightening the skin. This technique can reposition descended tissues in the cheeks, jawline, and lower face while reducing unnecessary tension on the skin. A traditional facelift may use a different surgical approach depending on the patient’s anatomy and goals, so Dr. Kulbersh determines which technique is most appropriate during consultation.

Do I Need a Facelift and Neck Lift Together?

No, not every patient needs both procedures, although combining them may provide more comprehensive rejuvenation when aging affects the jawline and neck at the same time. A facelift primarily addresses changes in the lower face and jowls, while a neck lift focuses more directly on loose skin, excess fat, and deeper structures beneath the chin and neck. Dr. Kulbersh evaluates both areas together to determine whether one procedure or a combination would best address your concerns.

What Is the Difference Between a Mini Facelift and a Full Facelift?

A mini facelift generally addresses earlier or more limited signs of aging in the lower face using a less extensive surgical approach. A full facelift is designed for more significant tissue descent, jowling, and lower facial laxity and may involve more comprehensive repositioning of deeper structures. The appropriate option depends more on your anatomy and degree of aging than your age alone.

How Long Is Facelift Recovery?

Initial swelling and bruising are expected after facelift surgery and gradually improve during the first several weeks. Many patients begin feeling comfortable returning to social activities once the most noticeable swelling and bruising have subsided, although healing continues beneath the surface for longer. Your exact recovery timeline will depend on the technique used, whether procedures are combined, and your individual healing response.

Will My Facelift Look Natural?

Natural looking results depend on repositioning facial tissues without creating excessive tension or an overly tight appearance. Dr. Kulbersh focuses on restoring youthful contours while preserving the patient’s individual facial characteristics. His approach emphasizes deeper structural correction rather than simply pulling the skin tighter.

Am I Too Young for a Facelift?

Age alone does not determine whether someone is an appropriate candidate for facelift surgery. Some patients develop noticeable jowling or tissue descent earlier because of genetics, facial structure, skin quality, or significant weight changes. A consultation can determine whether a facelift, mini facelift, or nonsurgical treatment is more appropriate for the degree of correction you want.

What Is the Carolina Facial Plastics Recovery Retreat?

The Carolina Facial Plastics Recovery Retreat provides facelift and other facial plastic surgery patients with a private setting where surgery and the first stage of recovery can take place in the same Charlotte location. After surgery in the dedicated facial plastic surgery suite, patients can transition directly to a private recovery suite rather than traveling to a hotel or another facility. The retreat includes access to an on-call nurse, medical staff, medical supplies, a private bath, a memory foam bed, meals, snacks, and other amenities designed to support comfort during early recovery.

Can I Stay at the Recovery Retreat After My Facelift?

Yes. Patients can recover at the Carolina Facial Plastics Recovery Retreat immediately following surgery, allowing the first stage of healing to take place in a private setting with medical support available. Patients may also choose to stay at the retreat the night before surgery, and a family member can be arranged to stay in the suite as well.
